Bursitis

Bursas are small sacs or pouches located throughout the body that provide cushions between bones, tendons, and muscles to help prevent friction and allow free movement at joints. Bursa have the potential to swell up and become very painful. Symptoms can include pain with touch, pain with movement, pain at night and swelling. Treatment of bursal problems can be difficult and it usually involves a combination of many techniques. Anti-inflammatory medication and Acupuncture can be used for inflammation control. Manual therapy including ART and FRR can be used for tight musculature and rehabilitation and strengthening are important to correct the pre-disposing weakness or biomechanical problems that caused the injury.
