The term neck pain is a very generic term and encompasses a multitude of dysfunctions and disorders of the neck, all which cause pain.
The cause of neck pain is unique to each patient and the treatment approach to deal with the problem needs to be specific for each individual. Some common types of neck pain include muscle strains, ligament sprains, arthritic changes, posterior joint (facet) pain, disc injuries, instability issues and whiplash injuries. Successful treatment of neck pain usually involves a combination of manual therapy and a rehabilitation program to address any weakness.
